HAPPY
FEBRUARY
February is an amazing month for a FEW reasons.
First of all, the best holiday ever just so happens to be in this month, alongside Valentine’s, Presidents, Groundhog, and National Freedom Days… and like obviously Black History & Heart Health Awareness Month…. but again, before all of that - February is the keeper of MY BIRTHDATE. 🎂
Birthdays are annual events for everyone, but I’m the kind of person who thinks acknowledgment & celebration is a literal birth right - it’s NEVER just another day.
((and DO NOT associate with losers who tell you otherwise, they’re fucking haters and we must pray for them))
I don’t fully know what life has planned for me, but every year I’m alive longer - I’m just thinking “ wow… not I was MEANT to turn (blank age) one day”. It’s really amazing to me how we’re just zapped into this bitch ass life and expected to just… live and be excited about living? As if it’s not hard to do either one..??
I’m Aquarius and most Aquarius’ don’t rave about birthdays? but I must say… I LOVE birthdays… especially mine. It’s the best U.S. Holiday ever, AND it should always be observed.
Welcome to the blog post where I tell you all about it.
I think my fav recipe for a good birthday vibe is 2 activities, across the span of 2 days, packing 2 Fits + shoe & bag options that will allow you to carry the spending cash for AT LEAST 2 shopping trips.. and lastly, 2 Meals - preferably a brunch and a dinner = a successful birthday experience.
I initially planned to host a Birthday Brunch at the Pink Hermit… but it wasn’t quite the vibe after I settled on the fit (because the fit has to match the feng shui). So I thought back to my boyfriend and I’s first ever visit to Nashville. We booked a bus tour throughout the city - and the guide mentioned a popular spot for us girlies, perfect for both dining AND photos… AND was inspired by none other than Miss Dolly Parton herself (.))) Thank the Lord for a brain and the ability to recollect small tidbits of irrelevant information. <3
THE official birthday itinerary - 2025
This year, like the past few years, my pockets are dehydrated and trying to establish themselves in a world of capitalism and unfair living wages? Sooo I wanted something small, classy, and intimate. I invited a few of my college besties down for the Nashville Experience, and quickly crafted a lil itinerary of things I thought the girls and I might enjoy doing together. I talked about starting my fitness journey this year, so I was considering activities such as pole dancing, aerial yoga, or pilates - you know, something I’d be embarrassed to pull-up to alone.
I was also feeling more of a cute brunch vibe, over a full out dinner? I think the avenues were look cute, get drunk, and make sure there’s bread on the menu so I can continue to do both things THROUGHOUT the night. My birthday is actually February 12th, which fell on a Wednesday this year… which meant I could absolutely kiss good weather and late closing times good-fucking-bye. It rained the entire week, and although I tried to maintain the spirit, there was definitely some shit in the air… like spiritual warfare and literal cooties, our lil household was definitely coming down with the latest airborne sickness.
The outfit hunt was a bit nerve racking. I found this super cute dress for brunch on a website called LaceMade (SUPER FUCKING CUTE, was the highlight of the day), but then I couldn't find an appropriate shoe and ended up wearing a pair I’d already had (and wore to my bestie Britney’s 19th birthday dinner). And then my second outfit, also didn’t go as planned. I had some jeans I wanted to wear because I never got cute photos in them (and still don’t have any), but I struggled a ton to find a cute top to coordinate with both the pants, and the new floral embroidered cowboy boots I stained from DOLLSKILL.
I always try to map out, or put together some form of an official itinerary - just to make things easier on my friends when I have to relay and repeat important details. It didn’t take much this year since we only had 2 full days to cram everything, and no money? so it’s an easy configuration because obviously what we can’t afford, we just won’t do. I’m rather grateful though, because I have very down-to-earth friends that are very supportive in that way. If there’s something I enjoy or a specific vibe I want to catch - they’re 100% supportive in showing up, or financing excursions for one another to ensure we all can have a positive experience… which I helllllaaaaaaaa appreciate and do not take for granted. I am so happy that they took the time our their busy lives to come see me, I got to embrace them all, AND their fucking flights flew and landed safely (because have you seen the shit going on in the news with airplanes?!?) I was actually concerned they might not be okay for 2 secs.
I really really really miss these bitches! I think they’re all phenomenal people - that I am especially grateful to have the opportunity to share life experiences with. We’re all so full of our own bullshit, but at the end of every single day, we support.
We didn’t get a good group photo together at brunch.. or dinner lol. So I did include a photo of us at the Parthenon replica in Centennial Park, here in Nashville. We all took a jog around the entire perimeter of the structure (because I was still feeling fit after we attended our very first pilates class together - WHICH is a whole topic for another day). But all-in-all, I was so grateful for the outcome of this year’s birthday.
My friend Devan, who’s also a Makeup Artist, was able to catch the night vibe with us. We only made it to the Hampton Social, and maybe one other random bar that almost got us SA’d by this super aggressive lesbian woman who took interest in everyone in the vicinity…. BUT I had the BEST time, surrounded with the BEST company and support system.
“Lord, I pray and am hopeful that in this new year: I begin to pick up and find consistency with new, healthier habits. I want to expel all the negativity, NOT deflect but REJECT the unfaithful energy that tempts me toward the spirit of procrastination and stagnation.”
+++ I cant forget to just say how grateful I am for any and everyone that sent me a birthday wish, provided me with a gift, or even thought of me on my special day! 🎀 I received such nice things from my friends, my boyfriend, my extended family, and of course - GOD, for blessing me with yet another year and opportunity to prove myself worthy of his love.
